We are currently looking for a Director of Decision Intelligence to join our team.
Role Overview
Director of Decision Intelligence
This Director of Decision Intelligence is pivotal in leveraging data to drive decision-making, optimise commercial performance, and enhance customer intelligence. The Director of Decision Intelligence will develop and oversee our data strategy, analytics, science, and visualisation teams, ensuring that data-driven insights are at the core of our pricing, promotions, marketing, supply chain and customer engagement and retention strategies.
The successful post holder will have strong commercial drive and acumen, and a customer-first attitude, with proven experience in a digitally led eCommerce or related environment. You will work with your peers and internal customers to create, communicate, implement, and deliver a clear strategic narrative, imbed a community of practice model to align data capabilities across the business, and elevate the focus on data being an asset to win in our market.
Reporting to the CEO of Retail this role is fundamental to delivering both its commercial and customer objectives.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Strategic and Tactical Leadership
* Develop and implement a commercial data strategy aligned with business objectives.
* Act as the bridge between data teams and commercial functions, ensuring insights drive revenue growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
* Champion a data-driven mindset across the business, promoting best practices in analytics and decision-making.
Data & Analytics
* Oversee the development of predictive models and AI-driven insights to improve pricing, demand forecasting, customer segmentation and customer lifetime value.
* Lead the build out of self-serve analytics tools, enabling commercial teams to access and utilise data effectively.
* Work closely with marketing, trading, product, finance, FS and operations teams to translate data into actionable commercial strategies.
Team Leadership & Development
* Lead, mentor, and grow a team of commercial data analysts, scientists, and visualisation specialists.
* Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the team.
* Ensure the team is equipped with the right skills, tools, and technology to succeed.
* Develop & lead the group Data Community including all data teams across N Brown.
Performance Optimisation & Reporting
* Define and track key performance metrics (KPIs) related to sales, customer behaviour, and profitability.
* Drive efficiency and effectiveness in pricing, promotions, and assortment strategies using data-driven insights.
* Own the commercial data reporting function, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and relevance of insights.
Technology & Data Governance
* Lead the data governance approach, partnering with Digital Product and Data Engineering teams to ensure high-quality data infrastructure and governance.
* Ensure compliance with UK data regulations (e.g., GDPR) and best practices in data ethics and security.
* Evaluate and integrate new data technologies and tools to enhance analytical capabilities.
Relevant Experience
* Proven track record as a data leader in a digital retail, eCommerce, or consumer-focused business.
* Strong experience in commercial analytics, pricing strategy, customer insights, revenue optimisation, etc.
* Expertise in data science, predictive modelling, and machine learning in a commercial context.
* Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other analytics tools (preferred but not essential).
* Experience working with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.) and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
* Ability to translate complex data insights into clear business recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

Ways of Working
- We offer hybrid working which varies across the business depending on the role you’re in. Our Head Office is located in the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre. So if you are travelling by train, tram or bus we’re perfectly located, plus we’re surrounded by cool cafes, trendy bars and the best places to eat!
- Our full-time working hours are 36.17 per week over 5-days. We don’t have strict working hours therefore there is some flexibility around start and finish times as long as you are meeting the needs of the business.
