You’d think that the last thing a clothing retailer would want to do would be to encourage people to recycle their old clothes – but that’s just what we’ve done with our new ‘Clothes Reuse’ scheme. Led by our JD Williams and Jacamo brand ambassadors Lorraine Kelly and Freddie Flintoff, the scheme encourages customers to fill donation bags with unwanted clothes that can be resold, reused or recycled. Obviously, we don’t want to discourage people from buying new clothes, but when they do we’re asking them to donate their old ones so they can be put to good use!

We’re working with TRAID, a UK charity that turns clothes waste into money to help those living in poverty as well as improving conditions in the fashion textiles industry. So far the scheme has proved a huge success – as of October 2015 TRAID has not only diverted 3,624kg of unwanted clothes and shoes from landfill, they’ve reduced carbon emissions (CO2) by 49.6 tonnes!
